Egg is (from left to right) Crystal Ellis, Julie Scheu, Hillary Petrie, and Stephanie Beamer. We met in the wood shop at architecture school, and have been designing together ever since. Egg Collective is a small company that works on a project by project basis. The majority of our designs are handcrafted by one or all of the members of the collective. Anything we cannot make ourselves we source out to local and small-scale manufacturers. We live in Providence, Helsinki, New Orleans and Brooklyn, and maintain a virtual studio. It is important for us to create, investigate methods of craft and production, think about the future of the built world, and be mindful of our environment. We design because we find questions in some of life’s most simple tasks that are still unanswered. The result is something beautiful, functional, responsible, and innovative.
